Our Australian teacher taught us the general rule of “connected speech” today and she also introduced to us names of animals which we would see in the Cairns Tropical Zoo. We had only known kangaroos and koalas as they were the symbolic icons of Australia before we had this lesson.
After finishing the lesson, we went to the zoo by coach. We witnessed
the crocodile feeding at 2 p.m. The zoo keepers were really brave because they fed
the big frightening reptiles barehanded. Next, it was the photo-taking session
with a little cute koala. We could feel the soft and smooth hair of the koala
when we cuddled her in our arms. This was a precious experience for us because
we could get in close contact with a koala.
Then, we saw a “Birds Show”, in which we were experiencing a rare chance
of having big birds flying over us. We were afraid that they would attack us. After
the show, we went to the souvenirs shop to buy gifts for our friends and
relatives.
Although the zoo is not big, the zoo trip is unforgettable
to us as we were able to see, touch and learn about animals of Australia.
